Many families and retired residents live in the Plantation because of its affordability, resort-like amenities and convenience to schools, shopping, etc.

Mitchell can be viewed overlooking Skull Creek. Dolphin Head Beach Park, overlooking Port Royal Sound, provides residents a place for cookouts and parties along with a playground and basketball court. Located on the north-end of the Island, HHP is convenient to schools, shopping, restaurants and Harris Teeter (grocery store) is outside the gate in the Main Street commercial district.
